I am drawn to painting mainly with oil and watercolors.  My preference is to start with a surface to which I have already applied some color, setting the mood for the painting and getting rid of the cold, stark white. When painting with oils I often work on panels rather than stretched canvas, feeling that it gives me more control of the paint strokes, eliminates light coming through the canvas and allows for more framing possibilities.

Making decisions regarding composition and basic values are done in advance to allow the right brain more freedom in the actual painting process and still allow for changes that enhance the final piece. I work in a realistic style focusing on the beauty of everyday living.  I enjoy painting directly from life when I can but the majority of my commissioned work is done from photographs.  I am mostly known for my portraiture work but I also enjoy painting still life and landscapes, especially ones done plein air.

I was among selected artists invited to be in the “Masterworks in Miniature Show” at Gallery One, in Mentor, Ohio. My work recently appeared in the online edition of "American Artist". I have traveled across the U.S. and Canada teaching workshops and, when schedule permits, continuing my personal education by taking various classes and enrichment opportunities.

My work can be found in many private and corporate collections. Some of my original ornaments are a part of the permanent collection of The White House, and the Ohio Governor's residence.

I am a co-founder of The Potpourri of Painter’s Society and the executive director and founder of The Visual Arts Network and I serve as vice president of the Ohio Plein Air Society.
